At first glance the images of 'This is not America' remind the viewer of the uniform favoured by a particular group of American racists. The images provoke attention and curiosity while teaching us to mistrust our snap judgement. In the end, the viewer realizes that the pictures actually show the Easter parade in Seville, a tradition that goes back to the 13th Century. This editorial work was realized for the magazine THE FACE. As the magazine feared the controversy those images might provoke, they decided against publishing them. However, DUTCH Magazine published 'This is not America'.
